PEN ARGYL BOROUGH NEWS

SEPTEMBER 2021

 

SEPTEMBER 7th COUNCIL MEETING

·       Approved Resolution #2021-06 supporting the submission of a 2021 Grow Norco Grant Application for the purchase of a police vehicle for Slate Belt Regional Police Department.

·       Approved Resolution #2021-07 to close out the DCNR Pool Feasibility Study Grant.

·       Directed Solicitor to draft for advertisement an ordinance regulating small wireless facilities and establish fees.

·       Agreed to contribute $500.00 from the reserve fund to CACLV’s Municipal Fund Appeal to support their homelessness mitigation efforts.

·       Authorized Solicitor to attend the 9/15/2021 Plainfield Planning Commission regarding the CRG Development at 905 W. Pennsylvania Avenue.

 

PUBLIC WORKS

            During the month of August the Public Works Department performed scheduled maintenance tasks and completed all requested tasks.   

 

ZONING/CODE DEPARTMENT

In August, the following permits were issued: 1 deck, 1 roof, 1 electrical, 1 solar, 1 sidewalk, 1 demolition, 1 yard sale, 1 shed, 1 driveway, 1 generator, 1 fence and 1 dumpster.    8 residential re-sale property inspections, 6 rental inspections and processed 2 rental registrations. Code enforcement issued 2 notice of violations, 3 quality of life tickets and 8 warnings regarding property maintenance violations.  Landlords are reminded to contact the Zoning Officer to schedule inspection of rental properties to comply with the Licensing of Rental Properties Ordinance. SLATE BELT REGIONAL POLICE

Contact information for the SBRPD is:  911 (Emergency), 610-759-8517 (non-Emergency) and

610-759-8523 (Fax).  In July officers responded to 498 calls for service, with 151 in Pen Argyl. 

 

LOOKOUT FIRE COMPANY

            Lookout Fire Company’s website: www.lookoutfireco.com or check out their Facebook page. In August, volunteers responded to 11 calls and spent 142 hours on drills and 215 on calls. Lookout is always looking to grow their volunteer family, contact them if you are interested in becoming a volunteer. www.lookoutfireco.com/downloads/

 

WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT

            Monthly, weekly and quarterly sampling was done, all comply.  Monitoring reports and lab results are compiled and submitted as required.  Equipment, plant and pumping station maintenance was completed.  Answered and marked 34 PA One Calls. UV Bulbs replaced(6).  UV system serviced.  Centrifuge conveyor winch installed.  Equalization tanks cleaned. Valve stem cleaned.  Annual generator service   Pumps repaired.

 

TAX COLLECTOR

            Real Estate and Per Capita payments will no longer be received in person at 501 George Street,

Pen Argyl, PA, please utilize black drop off box located at same location. If receipts are needed, please have both parts of bill enclosed in the drop off box. FERAL CAT PROGRAM

            This is just a reminder that the Borough has continued their contract with No Nonsense Neutering.  If there is a colony of cats living near your home (and their left ear is NOT tipped), contact the Borough office at 610-863-4119 for information about the trap neuter return program exclusively for feral cats. Free vouchers provided with proof of residency.  

 

STORMWATER REMINDER

            When winterizing your pool, please be reminded, it is illegal to discharge chlorinated swimming pool water or pool water that contains biocides or other chemicals to the storm drain system.

 

BOROUGH NEWSLETTER

            Borough Newsletter- The Borough Newsletter is published each month following the Borough Council Meeting.  It can be found on our website at www.penargylborough.com .   You can receive the newsletter by email by contacting: manager@penargylborough.com and requesting it.  You will need to provide your name, address, and email contact.  You can also find us on Facebook.

Garbage/Recycling –Garbage collection is every Friday.  Recycling will be on September 11th(delayed because of holiday) & 24th, as well as October 8th & 22nd.  Garbage/recycling containers are to be placed on the resident’s property at the curb line and are not to be placed before 2 P.M. on the day before pickup.

Blue Mountain Community Library- Check library website for hours and curbside service.  Mask mandatory.
