SEPTEMBER COUNCIL MEETING

 

PUBLIC WORKS

            During the month of August the Public Works Department performed scheduled maintenance tasks and completed all requested tasks.   

 

ZONING/CODE DEPARTMENT

If you have a complaint about a property in the Borough you can now go to http://penargylborough.com/PABAdmin/images/PM_Complaint_Form.pdf or come to the Borough office and fill it out and return to the Borough Office.  All complaints are handled with discretion.  Anonymous complaints will not be investigated. In August, the following permits were issued:  2 building, 1 driveway, 2 fence, 1 mechanical and 1 electrical.  Also completed; 20 rental property licensing registration, 7 residential rental inspections and 8 re-sale property inspections.  The Zoning Officer can be reached at 610-863-1821 or at zoning@penargylborough.com  

 

LOOKOUT FIRE COMPANY

               In the month of August the fire company responded to 11 alarms, spent 319 hours on calls, 298 hours on drills.  Lookout Fire Company has a website: www.lookoutfireco.com  and facebook page.

 

SLATE BELT REGIONAL POLICE DEPARTMENT

            In August  officers responded to 610 calls for service. 178 were in Pen Argyl.  Officers also investigated 55 criminal offenses and made 22 criminal arrests in the month.

 

WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT

            Monthly, weekly and quarterly sampling was done, all are in compliance.  Equipment, plant and pumping station maintenance was completed.  Yearly service to generators completed.  Answered and marked 12 PA One Calls. 


SLATE BELT RISING

            Slate Belt Rising is looking for volunteers for committees that will assist the program to implement a community revitalization plan in the Boroughs of Wind Gap, Pen Argyl, Bangor and Portland.  The Borough will be updating some of the planters around the business district.  Part of the SBR is to aesthetically improve the look of the downtown. BOROUGH NEWSLETTER

            The Borough Newsletter is published each month following the Borough Council Meeting.  It can be found at the Borough Hall or on our website at www.penargylborough.com .   You can receive the newsletter by email by contacting: manager@penargylborough.com and requesting it.  You will need to provide your name, address and email contact.  While on the web site make sure you like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter!!!!!

Free Community Wide Yard Sales- No permit yard sale date is 9/15-9/17.

Garbage/Recycling Garbage collection is every Friday. Recycling will be on September 15th & 29th as well as October 13th & 27th.  Garbage/recycling containers are to be placed on the resident's property at the curb line and are not to be placed before 2 P.M. on the day before pickup.

Blue Mountain Community Library- Fund raisers: 9/14, 11:00 A.M.  7:00 P.M., Cafe on Broadway, 21 South Broadway, Wind Gap, PA 18091.  Adult book discussion group selections:  9/19 1984 (ch. 2.7-end) by George Orwell; 10/17  Hillbilly Elegy by J.D. Vance; 11/21  The Night Bird by Brian Freeman; no meeting in December; 1/16  Mademoiselle Chanel by C. W. Gortner; 2/20 The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown. Book group meetings begin at 6:30 P.M. Books are available for checkout. Storytime starts the first Thursday in October.  The library is in search of a storytime reader/leader for Wednesdays.  The public is invited to the next board meeting, scheduled for 9/20 at 6:30 P.M.
