PEN ARGYL BOROUGH NEWS

SEPTEMBER 2022

 

SEPTEMBER 6th COUNCIL MEETING

 

PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

            In the past month, the PWD did maintenance on equipment, Borough property and streets.

·       Building checks.

·       Completed gutting of bathhouse.

·       Equipment maintenance.

·       Carousel sprinkler repairs.

·       Grounds maintenance.

·       Cleaned grease traps in concession stands.

·       PA One Call (4).

·       Troubleshot various streetlight issues.

·       Weekly meter check.

·       Weekly lawn maintenance.

·       Repaired streetlight at 1081 E Mountain Ave.

·       Installed missing right turn arrow at blinking light and painted pavement markings.

·       Cleaned catch basins and litter patrol.

·       Curb cleaning parade route.

·       Prep Park for Labor Day.

 

ZONING OFFICE

  In August, the office processed 2 building permits, 1 electrical, 1 mechanical, 1 plumbing, 2 fence, 1 pool, 1 special exception variance, 1 commercial change of use, 1 commercial occupancy permit and 3 yard sale permits. Also completed; 5 residential rental property inspections, 7 residential re-sale property inspections and processed 4 rental registrations. LOOKOUT FIRE COMPANY

            In August the Fire Company answered 11 calls for service, spent 213 hours on drills and 325 hours on calls.  Follow them on Facebook to participate in great raffles and support a great organization. WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT

            Monthly, weekly, and quarterly sampling was done, all comply.  Equipment, plant, and pumping station maintenance was completed.  Answered and marked 12 PA One Calls. Cleaned, service and replaced 11 bulbs to UV system. Equalization tanks cleaned. Generators annual service completed. 

 

TAX COLLECTOR

            Real Estate and Per Capita payments will no longer be received in person at 501 George Street,

Pen Argyl, PA, please utilize black drop off box located at same location. If receipts are needed, please have both parts of bill enclosed in the drop off box. You can also mail your payments to: Pen Argyl Tax Collector, 501 George Street, Pen Argyl, PA 18072. Please call 610-863-9487 if you have any questions. 

 

FERAL CAT PROGRAM

Pen Argyl Borough has renewed our contract with No Nonsense Neutering.  What this means to residents is if there is a colony of cats living near your home (and their left ear is NOT tipped), contact the Borough office for information about the trap neuter return program exclusively for feral cats (free vouchers provided with proof of I.D.).

 

Borough Newsletter- The Borough Newsletter is published each month following the Borough Council Meeting. It can be found on our website at www.penargylborough.com and you can receive the newsletter online by going to our website and requesting it. While on the web site make sure you like us on Facebook!

Garbage/Recycling – Garbage collection is every Friday. Recycling will be on Saturday Sept. 10th (Labor Day holiday delay) and Friday, Sept. 23rd as well as Oct. 7th & 21st.  Garbage/recycling containers are to be placed on the resident’s property at the curb line and are not to be placed before 2 P.M. on the day before pickup.

Blue Mountain Community Library - The public is invited to the next board meeting, scheduled for 9/20 at 6:30 P.M.  Book Discussion Group meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 P.M.at the library, 10/11 – The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles and 11/8 – West with Giraffes by Lynda Rutledge.   Fundraisers:  Silent Auction - 9/19-10/15; Slate Pub – 9/27 all day; and Café on Broadway 10/20 all day. Fall preschool storytime:  9/14, 9/28, 10/12 and 10/26 at Weona Park at 10:30 A.M. preregister for crafts kits.
