SEPTEMBER 2020 COUNCIL MEETING
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
In the past month the PWD did maintenance on equipment, Borough property and streets.
· Building checks.
· Replaced relay & filters in Community Center air conditioner.
· Pressure washed large pavilion and tables.
· Equipment maintenance.
· Weekly lawn maintenance on Borough properties.
· Catch basin cleanings.
· Storm wash out clean up.
· PA One Call (3).
· Litter patrol.
· Pothole patrol.
· Utility cut inspections.
· Curb cleaning and cut back vegetation on various roadways.
· Dog park fence posts painted.
· New park sign installed, cap stone repair.
ZONING OFFICE
In the past month the following permits were issued: 2 building, 5 zoning, 2 electrical and 1 plumbing. Also processed: 2 rental property licensing registrations, 11 residential rental inspections, 6 residential re-sale property inspections and 1 commercial re-sale inspection. LOOKOUT FIRE COMPANY
Lookout Fire Company informed Council they will not be hosting the Labor Day Parade this year. The Sportsman Drawing and Meat Raffle will be held on October 10, 2020, purchase your tickets through any member of Lookout Fire Co. No. 1. www.lookoutfireco.com or check out their Facebook page.
FERAL CAT PROGRAM
If there is a colony of cats living near your home (and their left ear is NOT tipped), contact the Borough office (610-863-4119) for information about the trap neuter return program exclusively for feral cats (free vouchers provided with proof of residency).
WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT
Monthly, weekly and quarterly sampling was done, all comply. Equipment, plant and pumping station maintenance was completed. Completed 25 PA One Calls. 4 UV bulbs replaced. Annual generator service completed. Sewer bills are still being accepted at Fidelity (formally Merchants). You can also pay your

TAX COLLECTOR
Real Estate and Per Capita payments will no longer be received in person at 501 George Street,
Pen Argyl, PA, please utilize black drop off box located at same location. If receipts are needed, please have both parts of bill enclosed in the drop off box. You can also mail your payments to: Pen Argyl Tax Collector, 501 George Street, Pen Argyl, PA 18072. Please call 610-863-9487 if you have any questions.
BUILDING PERMITS
The Borough of Pen Argyl requires building permits to construct or alter a structure, construct an addition to an existing structure (this includes decks), demolish or move a structure and install or alter any equipment which is regulated by the building code (i.e.: heating, air conditioning, plumbing and electrical service). Ordinary repairs do not require a permit (new gutters, painting, replacement of windows if not altering original opening.) Ordinary repairs DO NOT INCLUDE: cutting away of any walls, removal, replacement, re-enforcement of any structural beam or loadbearing support, the removal or change of required means of egress, addition to, alteration of or replacement or relocation of any water supply, sewer, drainage, gas, waste, vent or similar piping, electrical wiring and mechanical equipment. The permit process is designed to ensure that the erection, repair, removal, demolition, or change of occupancy of a building be accomplished in compliance with the building code.
WEONA PARK
All areas of Weona Park are USE AT OWN RISK. Bathrooms will not be open. The Carousel, Miniature Golf and Community Center will remain closed to the public. No pavilion rentals will be accepted for the rest of the season and refunds will be issued for those who sent payments. Fields, basketball and skate park usage is at own risk. Visitors in the park must wear masks, social distance and continue to follow the guidelines of the Centers of Disease Control & Prevention.
Borough Newsletter- The Borough Newsletter is published each month following the Borough Council Meeting. It can be found on our website at www.penargylborough.com and you can receive the newsletter online by going to our website and requesting it. While on the web site make sure you like us on Facebook!
Garbage/Recycling - Garbage collection is every Friday. Due to Labor Day Holiday, garbage and recycling will occur on Saturday, September 12th. Recycling will also be on Friday, September 25th. Garbage/recycling containers are to be placed on the resident’s property at the curb line and are not to be placed before 2 P.M. on the day before pickup.

Blue Mountain Community Library- The library is open for curbside service only. Hours are Mon., Thurs., and Sat. from 10:00 A.M.– 12:00 noon, plus Mon. and Thurs. from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 pm. Preschool story time & crafts on Facebook every Thurs. beginning 9/10 for themed stories and crafts! Library will provide the supplies. Call for your craft packet, 610-863-3029. Book discussions: 9/15 outside at 6:15 P.M., The Chelsea Girls by Fiona Davis; 10/20 at 6:30 on Zoom for Cold Woods by Karen Katchur and 11/17 at 6:30 on Zoom for The Rent Collector by Camron Wright.
