·       Passed Ordinance #704 to refund the 2018 note and incur debt in order to take advantage of currently available interest rates and save at least $284,263.00.

·       Approved leasing “Weonamore” park land for Bonfire and Pep Rally to Pen Argyl Area School District.

·       Approved Trick or Treat to be held on October 31, 2019, from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. Rain or shine.

·       Agreed to apply for a PA Small Water and Sewer Grant for repairs and replacement of sanitary mains in the East Babbitt and Moyer Avenues area.



            In the past month, the PWD did maintenance on equipment, Borough property and streets.

·       Maintained & repaired trucks, prepped mowers and tractors.

·       Daily maintenance and or cleaning of park properties and buildings.

·       Weekly lawn maintenance on Borough properties.

·       Pot hole patrols.

·       Basin cleanings & storm washouts.

·       Meter checks and coin collection.

·       Cleaned rain gutters on various park buildings.

·       Did property and lawn maintenance at new fire station.

·       Began demolition, brush cutting and tree trimming and removal at proposed dog park area.

·       Repaired and/or replaced various signs in Borough.

·       Sidewalk demolition and prep for violation repair.

·       Assisted in the roll out of the new handicap signage law.

·       Repaired/replaced flag pole issues at Borough Hall.



In the past month, the Zoning/Code Office completed 7 re-sale property inspections, 8 rental property inspections, issued 1 building permit, 1 electrical permit and 1 sidewalk permit.   The office also processed 6 rental registrations and 7 zoning permits.  The Zoning Officer can be reached at 610-863-1821 or at

            Monthly, weekly and quarterly sampling was done, all are complying with regulations. Equipment, plant and pumping station maintenance was completed. Pumping Stations, EQ tanks cleaned.  Answered and marked 8 PA One Calls.

            It is the responsibility for all landlords to get property inspected prior to a new tenant moving into the property and to update the tenant registration form.  If you are in arrears with any Borough fees you will not get a Certificate of Occupancy (CO) to occupy the building. 



             If you are moving into, within or out of the Borough it is essential for you to come to the Borough Office and obtain a moving permit. The cost for the permit is $1.  This includes any individual moving in with a roommate or with a family member.  This permit is necessary for school enrollment and per capita taxes.  Upon obtaining a permit you will receive a welcome packet with important Borough information.  If you are moving out of the Borough, you must obtain a moving permit, or you will continue to be billed for the per capita tax.

            Borough Newsletter- The Borough Newsletter is published each month following the Borough Council Meeting. Garbage/Recycling – Recycling will be on October 11th & 25th and November 8th & 22nd.  Garbage Pickup will be delayed to November 30th due to Thanksgiving Holiday.  Garbage/recycling containers are to be placed on the resident’s property at the curb line and are not to be placed before 2 P.M. on the day before pickup.  Mark your calendars for Creatures of the Night, 10/8 5 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. at Grand Central Education Center.  WM’s community line is 1-888-373-2917 for any hauling or odor issues and concerns.  DEP hotline for odor concerns is 1-866-255-5158. Blue Mountain Community Library- Slate Pub Fundraiser, Noon to closing on 10/22.   Book Club:  10/15 Educated by Tara Westover and 11/19 Bean Town Girls by Jane Healey.  Book group meetings begin at 6:30 P.M.  9/4 at 10:30 A.M. will be first story time of the fall.  Preschool Storytime every Wed., at 10:30 A.M.
