PEN ARGYL BOROUGH NEWS

OCTOBER 4th COUNCIL MEETING

 

PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

Leaf collection will begin 10/31 and continue daily until 11/18.  Holiday light installation will begin on 11/21, leaf collection will continue after and end on 12/2.  This is a tentative schedule and can change with weather conditions, equipment failures and emergencies.

            In the past month, the PWD did maintenance on equipment, Borough property, and streets.

·       Building checks.

·       Community Center interior demolition.

·       Equipment maintenance.

·       Truck inspections.

·       Grounds maintenance.

·       PA One Call (17).

·       Troubleshot various streetlight issues.

·       Weekly meter check.

·       Weekly lawn maintenance.

·       Utility cut inspections.

·       Cleaned catch basins & litter control.

 

ZONING OFFICE

  In the past month, the office processed 7 building permits, 2 electrical, 1 mechanical, 1 plumbing, 1 fence, 1 driveway, 1 sidewalk, and 1 yard sale permit. Also completed; 8 residential rental property inspections, 1 commercial property re-sale inspection, 4 residential re-sale property inspections, and processed 1 rental registration. POLICE DEPARTMENT

LOOKOUT FIRE COMPANY

            In the past month, the Fire Company answered 8 calls for service, spent 198 hours on drills and 210 hours on calls.  Follow them on Facebook to participate in terrific raffles and support a great organization. WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT

            Monthly, weekly, and quarterly sampling was done, all comply.  Equipment, plant, and pumping station maintenance was completed.  Answered and marked 21 PA One Calls.  Replaced 3 bulbs to UV system. Equalization tanks cleaned. Generators annual service completed.  Well meters read.

 

TAX COLLECTOR

            Real Estate and Per Capita payments will no longer be received in person at 501 George Street,

Pen Argyl, PA.   Please utilize black drop off box located at same location. If receipts are needed, please have both parts of bill enclosed in the drop off box. You can also mail your payments to: Pen Argyl Tax Collector, 501 George Street, Pen Argyl, PA 18072. Please call 610-863-9487 if you have any questions. 

 

FERAL CAT PROGRAM

Pen Argyl Borough has renewed our contract with No Nonsense Neutering.  What this means to residents is if there is a colony of cats living near your home (and their left ear is NOT tipped), contact the Borough office for information about the trap neuter return program (T.N.R.)  exclusively for feral cats (free vouchers provided with proof of I.D.).

 

Borough Newsletter- The Borough Newsletter is published each month following the Borough Council Meeting. It can be found on our website at www.penargylborough.com and you can receive the newsletter online by going to our website and requesting it. While on the web site make sure you like us on Facebook!

Garbage/Recycling – Garbage collection is every Friday. Recycling will be on Oct. 7th & 21st as well as

Nov. 4th & 18th.  Garbage/recycling containers are to be placed on the resident’s property at the curb line and are not to be placed before 2 P.M. on the day before pickup.

Blue Mountain Community Library - The public is invited to the next board meeting scheduled for 10/18 at 6:30 P.M.  Book Discussion Group meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 P.M. at the library (no meeting in Dec.), 11/8 – West with Giraffes by Lynda Rutledge.   Fundraisers:  Silent Auction – now -10/15 and Café on Broadway 10/20 all day.  Fall preschool story time: 10/12 and 10/26 at Weona Park at 10:30 A.M. preregister for crafts kits.
