NOVEMBER 2020 COUNCIL MEETING

 

PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

            In the past month the PWD did maintenance on equipment, Borough property and streets.

·       Tire repair on backhoe.

·       Mounted leaf box.

·       Replaced/installed various signs around town.

·       Catch basin and outfall cleanings.

·       Removed fallen tree branches.

·       Hauled out asphalt & dump site cleanup.

·       Assisted Fire Company with excavation for Memorial Bell placement.

·       PA One Call (5).

·       Utility cut inspections.

·       Leaf collection.

·       Meter Collection.

·       Holiday light check.

·       Staff training on storm sewer jetty and crack sealer machines.

 

ZONING OFFICE

In the past month the following permits were issued:  5 building, 1 zoning, 1 dumpster. 2 fence and 1 electrical.  Also processed: 1 yard sale,1 rental property licensing registration, 1 residential rental inspection and 8 residential re-sale property inspections. FERAL CAT PROGRAM

If there is a colony of cats living near your home (and their left ear is NOT tipped), contact the Borough office (610-863-4119) for information about the trap neuter return program exclusively for feral cats (free vouchers provided with proof of residency).

 

WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT

Monthly, weekly and quarterly sampling was done, all comply.  Equipment, plant and pumping station maintenance was completed.  Completed 16 PA One Calls. SBR3 trouble shoot oily film and foam.  UV system cleaned and service. Sewer bills are being accepted at Fidelity (formally Merchants).  You can also pay your bill online with a credit card with a convenience fee applied through this link: https://www.diversifiedbillpay.com/v1/penargyl     

 

TAX COLLECTOR

            Real Estate and Per Capita payments will no longer be received in person at 501 George Street,

Pen Argyl, PA, please utilize black drop off box located at same location. If receipts are needed, please have both parts of bill enclosed in the drop off box. You can also mail your payments to: Pen Argyl Tax Collector, 501 George Street, Pen Argyl, PA 18072. Please call 610-863-9487 if you have any questions. 

 

BUILDING PERMITS  

            The Borough of Pen Argyl requires building permits to construct or alter a structure, construct an addition to an existing structure (this includes decks), demolish or move a structure and install or alter any equipment which is regulated by the building code (i.e.: heating, air conditioning, plumbing and electrical service).  Ordinary repairs do not require a permit (new gutters, painting, replacement of windows if not altering original opening.) Ordinary repairs DO NOT INCLUDE: cutting away of any walls, removal, replacement, re-enforcement of any structural beam or loadbearing support, the removal or change of required means of egress, addition to, alteration of or replacement or relocation of any water supply, sewer, drainage, gas, waste, vent or similar piping, electrical wiring and mechanical equipment. The permit process is designed to ensure that the erection, repair, removal, demolition, or change of occupancy of a building be accomplished in compliance with the building code.

 

WEONA PARK

All areas of Weona Park are USE AT OWN RISK. Visitors in the park must wear masks, social distance and continue to follow the guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention.

 

SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY OUTDOOR MARKET

            11/28 – 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M., S. Robinson Avenue.  25+ vendors, food and wine.  Santa visit.  (Rain date 11/29).

            Borough Newsletter- The Borough Newsletter is published each month following the Borough Council Meeting. It can be found on our website at www.penargylborough.com and you can receive the newsletter online by going to our website and requesting it. While on the web site make sure you like us on Facebook!

Garbage/Recycling - Garbage collection is every Friday.  Recycling will be on Nov. 20th and Dec. 4th & 18th.  Garbage collection will be delayed a day the weeks of Thanksgiving and December. Garbage/recycling containers are to be placed on the resident’s property at the curb line and are not to be placed before 2 P.M. on the day before pickup.

Blue Mountain Community Library- Beginning 11/2, patrons will be allowed in the building on Mon. and Sat. On Thurs., service will be via Curbside only.  Curbside Service available during all shifts. You must call for an appointment. Virtual Preschool story time & crafts on Facebook every Thurs., themed stories and crafts! Call for your craft packet.
