Borough Council presented Walter Cole with a Citation and appointed him Town Historian.  Mr. Cole has been curating the history of the Borough as well as lecturing and educating students of all ages regarding that history.  The Borough wanted to recognize his generosity in sharing that knowledge.

·       Appointed Eric Mesko and Stephen Marhevka to the Planning Commission. 

·       Approved the purchase of new tires for the GMC 2006.

·       Agreed to place several vehicles and equipment on the Municibid site. 

·       Approved the 2019 Slate Belt Regional Budget Proposal.

·       Adopted Ordinance #699 approving the amended formula change for the Slate Belt Regional Police Budget.

·       Granted conditional approval for the lot line adjustment at 412 N. Robinson Avenue.

·       Agreed to advertise for quotations on the painting of the Town Hall sign on the Borough Hall. The advertisements will be on web site, facebook page and email blast.

·       Agreed to hire Lang’s Cleaning Service, LLC to clean Borough Hall.

·       Adopted Resolution 2018-15 adopting the Lehigh Valley 2018 Hazard Mitigation Plan Update.



Leaf collection will continue through 11/16/18, there will be no collection the week of 11/19, collection resumes on 11/26 and will end 12/07.  Please note leaves will not be picked up if they have sticks, acorns or animal feces in the piles. These materials can cause malfunctions with the machinery and become dangerous to our employees.  Avoid putting leaves out 2 days before rain or foul weather, especially in the hilly areas of the Borough.  During storms leaf piles can clog storm basins and cause water damage to streets and private property.  Whenever possible, park away from leaf piles so the workers can maneuver the equipment and clean up more thoroughly.  If you have any questions or concerns regarding the scheduling of the leaf pick-up, please call the Public Works Office at 610-863-9249, leave your name, address and brief message, your call will be return at the earliest possible convenience.

In the past month, the PWD did maintenance on equipment, Borough property and streets.

·       Daily maintenance of park properties and buildings.

·       Cleaned rain gutters on park buildings.

·       Cleaned out Scout Hall so it could be utilized by the SBRPD PAL program.

·       Maintenance and cleaning of Community Center, Hamburger Stand and Sausage Stand.

·       Prepared vehicles for leaf collection and winter plowing and salting.

·       Reported three streetlight outages.

·       Placed speed limit signs on Delabole Junction,

·       Catch basin cleaning and wash outs.

·       Meter checks and repairs.

·       Spray patch



In the past month, the Zoning/Code Office completed 5 re-sale property inspections, 11 rental property inspections, issued 3 building and 1 yard sale permit.  The office also processed 2 zoning applications.  The Zoning Officer can be reached at 610-863-1821 or at

            The Fire Company responded to 12 calls in the month of October.  There were 206 hours spent on drills and 308 on calls for a total of 514-man hours by our volunteers.  Santa is coming!!  Sign up: 12/3, 12/10 or 12/17 from  6:00 P.M.-7:30 P.M.   Where:  Lookout Fire Company Social Hall, 11 N Robinson Ave. What: Wrapped gift for Santa to deliver.  Who: Residents of Pen Argyl Borough.  For more info email    



            Monthly, weekly and quarterly sampling was done, all are complying with regulations. Equipment, plant and pumping station maintenance was completed. Answered and marked 10 PA One Calls. Annual inspection of generators, reed beds winterized, and UV cleaned and serviced.

             If you are moving into, within or out of the Borough it is essential for you to come to the Borough Office and obtain a moving permit. The cost for the permit is $1.  This includes any individual moving in with a roommate or with a family member.  This permit is necessary for school enrollment and per capita taxes.  Upon obtaining a permit you will receive a welcome packet with important Borough information.  If you are moving out of the Borough, you must obtain a moving permit, or you will continue to be billed for the per capita tax.


            Borough Newsletter- The Borough Newsletter is published each month following the Borough Council Meeting. It can be found on our website at and you can receive the newsletter online by going to our website and requesting it. Garbage/Recycling – Garbage collection is every Friday.  Garbage and recycling will be collected on Sat. Nov. 24th due to Thanksgiving Holiday. December recycling will be on the  7th and 21st.  Garbage will be delayed until Sat. 12/29 due to Christmas Holiday. Garbage/recycling containers are to be placed on the resident’s property at the curb line and are not to be placed before 2 P.M. on the day before pickup.

Park hours – All sections of the park are now closed at dusk.

Curfew – Minors are reminded that Pen Argyl has a curfew.  Minors under the age of 18 are not to be on any public street, alley, and sidewalk or at Weona Park between the hours of 11 P.M. and 6 A.M.

Blue Mountain Community Library-  The library will be open on 11/23, 11/24, and 11/26 and closed 11/21 and 11/22. Annual Christmas tree fundraiser, for a $5 donation, you may hang an ornament in honor or memory of a person or pet on the Library Christmas tree.  Check out web site for more information on Silent Auction craft nights and when you can learn to play Bridge:      Book Club: 11/20 – Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann. Book group meetings begin at 6:30 PM.  Storytime every Wed. & Thurs at 10:30 A.M. The public is invited to the next board meeting, scheduled for 11/28 at 6:30 P.M.

Community Holiday Celebration- December 7th from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M at Weona Park Community Center.
