JUNE 7th COUNCIL MEETING

 

PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

            In the past month, the PWD did maintenance on equipment, Borough property and streets.

·       Building checks.

·       Pressure washed and cleaned kitchens & pavilions.

·       Scraped & painted inside walls of band shell.

·       Replaced 57 bulbs in carousel and performed maintenance check.

·       Equipment maintenance.

·       Daily Trash runs at park.

·       Daily clean up during Memorial Day Celebration.

·       Prep for Founder’s Day.

·       Completed dog park water line.

·       Installed No Truck sign.

·       PA One Call (4).

·       Streetlight outage report (1).

·       Weekly meter checks, coin collection 5/11.

·       Set up for meetings.

·       Weekly lawn maintenance.

·       Catch basin cleanings 5/23 & 6/2.   Debris removal 4 basins.

·       Street sweeping 5/23-5/27.

·       Moved fill material in pool area.

 

ZONING OFFICE

  If you have not registered your rental you will be cited and fined. If you have any outstanding bills to the Borough your rental license will not be issued or may be revoked.  In May the office processed 1 zoning permit and 2 fence permits.  Also completed; 5 residential rental property inspections, 1 commercial rental property inspection, 16 residential and 1 commercial re-sale property inspections and processed 5 rental registrations. POLICE DEPARTMENT

Contact information for the SBRPD is:  911 (Emergency), 610-759-8517 (Non-Emergency) and 610-759-8523 (Fax).  SBRPD responded to 138 calls for service in Pen Argyl in April.

LOOKOUT FIRE COMPANY

            Follow them on Facebook to participate in great raffles and support a great organization. In May, the Lookout Fire Company responded to 9 calls.  They spent 341 hours on calls and logged an additional 208 hours on drills.  You can join and be a part of their team, just go to  http://lookoutfireco.com/downloads/  to apply. Congratulations to Matthew Vantage, Lookout Fire Company’s Firefighter of the Year!

 

WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT

            Monthly, weekly, and quarterly sampling was done, all comply.  Equipment, plant, and pumping station maintenance was completed.  Answered and marked 8 PA One Calls.  UV system-30 Bulbs replaced. UV phase 1 rebuild completed.  Centrifuge oil seal repaired. New HVAC unit installed. 

 

TAX COLLECTOR

            Real Estate and Per Capita payments will no longer be received in person at 501 George Street,

Pen Argyl, PA, please utilize black drop off box located at same location. If receipts are needed, please have both parts of bill enclosed in the drop off box. You can also mail your payments to: Pen Argyl Tax Collector, 501 George Street, Pen Argyl, PA 18072. Please call 610-863-9487 if you have any questions. 

 

FERAL CAT PROGRAM

Pen Argyl Borough has renewed our contract with No Nonsense Neutering.  What this means to residents is if there is a colony of cats living near your home (and their left ear is NOT tipped), contact the Borough office for information about the trap neuter return program exclusively for feral cats (free vouchers provided with proof of I.D.).

 

 

Borough Newsletter- The Borough Newsletter is published each month following the Borough Council Meeting. It can be found on our website at www.penargylborough.com and you can receive the newsletter online by going to our website and requesting it. While on the web site make sure you like us on Facebook!

Garbage/Recycling – Garbage collection is every Friday. Recycling will be on June 17th, July 1st, 15th & 29th.  Garbage pick-up will be delayed the week of July 4th to Sat. July 9th. Garbage/recycling containers are to be placed on the resident’s property at the curb line and are not to be placed before 2 P.M. on the day before pickup.

Weona Park Summer Sounds - 6/26 – Joyous, 7/10 – Large Flowerheads, 7/24 – Philadelphia Funk Authority, 8/7 – Moss Henry & the Bryophytes & 8/21 – Desire. All shows start at 6 P.M. and are held rain or shine. 

Blue Mountain Community Library - The public is invited to the next board meeting, scheduled for 6/21 at 6:30 P.M. Book Discussion Group meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 P.M., June’s selection is: The Scandalous Rejection of My Hasidic Roots by Deborah Feldman. From 6/1 – 8/31, each visit to the library will earn you a coupon for a chance to win a $5 Book Nook gift certificate. Drawings will be held three times during the summer and is open to patrons of all ages. The summer program is for children entering preschool through third grade. The programs will begin at 10:30 A.M., rain or shine. Registration begins on 5/15 and is required for each session. Please call the library at 610-863-3029.
