·         Agreed to partner with Plainfield Township to repair Bocci Club Road.

·         Agreed to get a proposal on mapping and videoing the Borough’s stormwater system.

·         Accepted proposal for boundary survey of Weona Park.

·         Approved new building/zoning application for use.

·         Agreed to send comments to DEP regarding Air Quality Permit for Synagro.



            In the past month, the PWD did maintenance on equipment, Borough property and streets.

·         Maintained & repaired trucks, prepped mowers and tractors.

·         Daily maintenance and or cleaning of park properties and buildings.

·         Cleaned inside of carousel & greased.

·         Replaced water line in restrooms, 30 feet of gas pipe in stand, LED fixtures on band shell.

·         Mulched around Pal building and playground.

·         Weekly lawn maintenance on Borough properties.

·         Power washed restrooms, picnic tables and pavilion pads.

·         Repaired various street signs and replaced red flashing signal.

·         Basin cleanings & storm washouts.

·         Installed berm on E. Mountain Avenue.

·         Cleared brush & excavated area to flow water to catch basin at YMCA property.

·         Excavated and repaired galvanized drain pipe.  Repaired roadway.



In the past month, the Zoning/Code Office completed 9 re-sale property inspections, 6 rental property inspections, issued 1 building permit, 1 electrical permit, 15 quality of life tickets, 2 yard sale permits and processed 30 rental registrations, 1 zoning hearing application, 4 zoning permits and 1 planning application.  The Zoning Officer can be reached at 610-863-1821 or at 



             The Slate Belt Regional Police Department has placed a permanent “prescription medication drop box” at police department headquarters for citizens to safely dispose of expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.             The Fire Company responded to 3 calls in the month of May.  There were 196 hours spent on drills and 104 on calls for a total of 300 man hours by our volunteers.   For more information on any of these announcements please email or call 610-863-4121.


            Monthly, weekly and quarterly sampling was done, all are complying with regulations. Equipment, plant and pumping station maintenance was completed. Pumping Stations, EQ pumps cleaned and repaired.  Answered and marked 49 PA One Calls. Centrifuge building roof repaired.  Utility water hydrant #8 plunger replaced.  Repaired manhole MH49-8.

            It is the responsibility for all landlords to get property inspected prior to a new tenant moving into the property and to update the tenant registration form.  If you are in arrears with any Borough fees you will not get a Certificate of Occupancy (CO) to occupy the building. 


            Borough Newsletter- The Borough Newsletter is published each month following the Borough Council Meeting. It can be found on our website at and you can receive the newsletter online by going to our website and requesting it. Garbage/Recycling – Recycling will be on June 7th & 21st and Sat., July 6th (due to Independence Day Holiday) and July 19th.   Garbage/recycling containers are to be placed on the resident’s property at the curb line and are not to be placed before 2 P.M. on the day before pickup.  WM’s community line is 1-888-373-2917 for any hauling or odor issues and concerns.  DEP hotline for odor concerns is 1-866-255-5158. Curfew – Minors are reminded that Pen Argyl has a curfew.  Minors under the age of 18 are not to be on any public street, alley, and sidewalk or at Weona Park between the hours of 11 P.M. and 6 A.M.

Blue Mountain Community Library- Fundraiser at Blue Ridge Winery –6/21, tickets are $20.  Fundraiser at The Old Mill – 6/27, 11 A.M.-8 P.M.  The library announces exciting summer reading programs for children. Book Club – 6/18 – The Subway Girls by Susie Orman Schnall, July – No book discussion; 8/20 – The Book of Unknown Americans by Christina Henriquez (For the August event, the first 7 registrants get a free copy of the book! The book will also be available for checkout). Sign-ups and books will be available starting June 1.; Book group meetings begin at 6:30 PM.  The public is invited to the next board meeting, scheduled for 6/19 at 6:30 P.M.

             If you are moving into, within or out of the Borough it is essential for you to come to the Borough Office and obtain a moving permit. The cost for the permit is $1.  This includes any individual moving in with a roommate or with a family member.  This permit is necessary for school enrollment and per capita taxes.  Upon obtaining a permit you will receive a welcome packet with important Borough information.  If you are moving out of the Borough, you must obtain a moving permit, or you will continue to be billed for the per capita tax.
