PEN ARGYL BOROUGH NEWS

JUNE 2021

 

JUNE 1st COUNCIL MEETING

·       Approved Pool Feasibility Study.

·       Received grant from LSA Monroe County for Weona Park Concession Stand Improvements in the amount of $104,704.00.

·       Received grant from LSA Monroe County for two (2) Regional Police Vehicles in the amount of $79,424.00.

·       Agreed to increase Zoning/Code Official hours by 4 hours a week to assist in property maintenance issues.

·       Agreed to decrease YMCA Security Deposit for Construction.

 

PUBLIC WORKS

            During the month of May, the Public Works Department performed scheduled maintenance tasks and completed all requested tasks.   

 

ZONING/CODE DEPARTMENT

In May, the following permits were issued:  1 commercial building alteration, 2 commercial building renovations, 1 deck, 2 residential, 2 electrical, 1 re-roof, 1 fence and 4 dumpsters.   Also completed; 11 residential re-sale property inspections, 1 commercial re-sale property inspection, 4 rental inspections and processed 14 rental registrations. There were 4 zoning applications processed. Landlords are reminded to contact the Zoning Officer to schedule inspection of rental properties to comply with the Licensing of Rental Properties Ordinance. Violators can be fined.  The Zoning Officer can be reached at 610-863-1821 or at zoning@penargylborough.com  

 

LOOKOUT FIRE COMPANY

            In May, the Lookout Fire Company responded to 12 calls.  They spent 213 hours on calls and logged an additional 172 hours on drills.  Lookout Fire Company’s website: www.lookoutfireco.com or check out their Facebook page.

 

WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT

            Monthly, weekly, and quarterly sampling was done, all comply.  Monitoring reports and lab results are compiled and submitted as required.  Equipment, plant, and pumping station maintenance was completed.  Answered and marked 36 PA One Calls. 7 UV bulbs replaced.  Pump controls at West End pump stations repaired.  Grease removed from pumping stations.  EQ tanks cleaned.

TAX COLLECTOR

            Real Estate and Per Capita payments will no longer be received in person at 501 George Street,

Pen Argyl, PA, please utilize black drop off box located at same location. If receipts are needed, please have both parts of bill enclosed in the drop off box. You can also mail your payments to: Pen Argyl Tax Collector, 501 George Street, Pen Argyl, PA 18072. Please call 610-863-9487 if you have any questions. 

 

FERAL CAT PROGRAM

            This is just a reminder that the Borough has continued their contract with No Nonsense Neutering.  If there is a colony of cats living near your home (and their left ear is NOT tipped), contact the Borough office at 610-863-4119 for information about the trap neuter return program exclusively for feral cats. Free vouchers provided with proof of residency.  

 

BOROUGH NEWSLETTER

            Borough Newsletter- The Borough Newsletter is published each month following the Borough Council Meeting.  It can be found on our website at www.penargylborough.com .   You can receive the newsletter by email by contacting: manager@penargylborough.com and requesting it.  You will need to provide your name, address, and email contact.  You can also find us on Facebook.

Free Yard Sale Dates- June 11-13 & September 17-19.  No permit needed.

Garbage/Recycling –Garbage collection is every Friday.  Recycling will be on June 5th & 18th, as well as July 2nd, 16th & 30th - Garbage/recycling containers are to be placed on the resident’s property at the curb line and are not to be placed before 2 P.M. on the day before pickup.
