AUGUST 2nd COUNCIL MEETING

PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

            In the past month, the PWD did maintenance on equipment, Borough property and streets.

·       Building checks.

·       Cleaned & painted outside of golf shack.

·       Began gutting of bathhouse.

·       Equipment maintenance.

·       Grounds maintenance.

·       Pressured washed picnic table & benches.

·       PA One Call (9).

·       Troubleshot various streetlight issues.

·       Roadside vegetation control (various streets).

·       Weekly meter check.

·       Weekly lawn maintenance.

·       Street sweeping use at Vine & E. Plainfield.

·       Pothole patrol Mary Mountain curb line & Davey Avenue.

ZONING OFFICE

  If you have not registered your rental you will be cited and fined. If you have any outstanding bills to the Borough your rental license will not be issued or may be revoked.  In July the office processed 3 commercial zoning, 3 residential zoning, 1 dumpster, 1 electrical and 5 yard sale permits.  Also completed; 1 commercial rental property inspection, 5 residential rental property inspections, 4 residential re-sale property inspections and processed 8 rental registrations. WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT

            Monthly, weekly, and quarterly sampling was done, all comply.  Equipment, plant, and pumping station maintenance was completed.  Answered and marked 18 PA One Calls.  Form 43 form approved.  Replaced fuses in centrifuge, SBR blower pulley repaired, and equalization tanks cleaned.

TAX COLLECTOR

            Real Estate and Per Capita payments will no longer be received in person at 501 George Street,

Pen Argyl, PA, please utilize black drop off box located at same location. If receipts are needed, please have both parts of bill enclosed in the drop off box. FERAL CAT PROGRAM

Pen Argyl Borough has renewed our contract with No Nonsense Neutering.  What this means to residents is if there is a colony of cats living near your home (and their left ear is NOT tipped), contact the Borough office for information about the trap neuter return program exclusively for feral cats (free vouchers provided with proof of I.D.).

 

Borough Newsletter- The Borough Newsletter is published each month following the Borough Council Meeting. It can be found on our website at www.penargylborough.com and you can receive the newsletter online by going to our website and requesting it. While on the web site make sure you like us on Facebook!

Garbage/Recycling – Garbage collection is every Friday. Recycling will be on August 12th & 26th as well as Saturday Sept. 10th (Labor Day holiday delay) and Friday, Sept. 23rd.  Garbage/recycling containers are to be placed on the resident’s property at the curb line and are not to be placed before 2 P.M. on the day before pickup.

Weona Park Summer Sounds - 8/7 – Moss Henry & the Bryophytes & 8/21 – Desire. All shows start at 6 P.M. and are held rain or shine. 

Blue Mountain Community Library - The public is invited to the next board meeting, scheduled for 8/16 at 6:30 P.M.  Book Discussion Group meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 P.M.at the library, 9/13 –   The Magnificent Lives of Marjorie Post by Allison Pataki; 10/11 – The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles and 11/8 – West with Giraffes by Lynda Rutledge.   Through 8/31, each visit to the library will earn you a coupon for a chance to win a $5 Book Nook gift certificate. Drawings will be held three times during the summer and is open to patrons of all ages. The summer program is for children entering preschool through third grade. The programs will begin at 10:30 A.M., rain or shine. Registration begins on 5/15 and is required for each session. Please call the library at 610-863-3029.
