APRIL 2019



§  Agreed to apply to the Green Knight Economic Development Corporation for a grant to purchase flashing crosswalks signs for Rt 512 at Weona Park.

§  Conditionally approved Slate Belt YMCA’s request for 5K Sprint Race. 

§  Agreed to NRG program amendments for the 2019/2020 season.

§  Adopted the Conflict of Interest Abstention Memorandum.

§  Authorized Borough Manager to participate in Northern Tier Trail meetings.



            During the month of March, the Public Works Department performed scheduled maintenance tasks and completed all requested tasks.   



Please note 2nd notices for rental registration invoices were sent out mid-March.  If you do not register your rental, you will be cited and fined. If you have any outstanding bills to the Borough your rental license may be revoked.

In March the following permits were issued:  1 building, 1 yard sale, 1 sidewalk and 3 zoning permits.  Also completed; 130 rental property licensing registrations and 1 re-sale property inspection. Landlords are reminded to contact the Zoning Officer to register rental properties and to schedule inspection of rental properties to comply with the Licensing of Rental Properties Ordinance. Violators can be fined.  The Zoning Officer can be reached at 610-863-1821 or at  



            Reminder SBRPD has a prescription medicine drop box at headquarters. Jr. Police Academy will be held from 6/24-6/28, applications will be available in early April. Citizen’s Police Academy will be Wednesdays 4/17-6/5 go to for more info and an application. 



            In March the Lookout Fire Company responded to 5 calls.  They spent 158 hours on calls and logged an additional 228 hours on drills.  Sportsman Drawing and Meat Raffle will be held on 4/13 at Weona Park Community Center.  Tickets available from any firefighter.             Monthly, weekly and quarterly sampling was done, all comply.  Equipment, plant and pumping station maintenance was completed.  Answered and marked 13 PA One Calls.  UV system cleaned. Equalization tanks cleaned.

If you are moving into, within or out of the Borough it is essential for you to come to the Borough Office and obtain a moving permit. The cost for the permit is $1.  This includes any individual moving in with a roommate or with a family member.  This permit is necessary for school enrollment and per capita taxes.  Upon obtaining a permit you will receive a welcome packet with important Borough information.  If you are moving out of the Borough, you must obtain a moving permit, or you will continue to be billed for the per capita tax.



            Borough Newsletter- The Borough Newsletter is published each month following the Borough Council Meeting.  It can be found at the Borough Hall or on our website at .   You can receive the newsletter by email by contacting: and requesting it.  You will need to provide your name, address and email contact.  While on the web site make sure you like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter!!!!!



Garbage/Recycling –Garbage collection is every Friday.  Recycling will be on April 12th & 26th, as well as May 10th & 24th.  Check out:  to learn more about the proper way to recycle. Garbage/recycling containers are to be placed on the resident’s property at the curb line and are not to be placed before 2 P.M. on the day before pickup. Dog LicensesResidents are reminded to renew their dog licenses. Licenses can be purchased at or by going to the County Courthouse in Easton, PA.

Blue Mountain Community Library- Luncheon and talk with author Maryann McFadden, 4/25 at GUMC, 404 E. Mountain Avenue. Tickets $10 go on sale 3/18.   Fundraiser at Detzi’s Tavern, Monday, 5/9, 4 P.M.-      9 P.M. Silent auction at the library, place bids from Monday, 5/9 through Saturday, 5/25. The public is invited to the next board meeting, scheduled for 4/17 at 6:30 P.M. Adult book discussion group selections: 4/16 – The Masterpiece by Fiona Davis; 5/21 – The Only Woman in the Room by Marie Benedict; 6/18- The Subway Girls by Susie Orman Schnall. Book group meetings begin at 6:30 P.M.  Preschool storytime is held Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 A.M. Come for a story and related craft or activity!
