MESSAGE FROM THE SLATE BELT REGIONAL POLICE DEPARTMENT
Now that it’s summer, the Slate Belt Regional Police Department wants to remind everyone to not keep valuables inside of your vehicles. With the nice weather, we like to roll down the windows and …cruise. When we make a quick stop, oftentimes we leave our windows open and inadvertently leave our cell phone, wallet or purse inside our cars. Many times, we drive home, park the family car and forget to roll up the windows. The next morning, anything left in the car could be gone! Although we know that 99.9% of people wouldn’t dare take anything from an unlocked car, there are still a few out there that would. Please help us “harden the target” and take your valuables with you, roll up your car windows and lock your doors!
PEN ARGYL PRIDE
12 Ways to improve your neighborhood-right now!
ü Report crime promptly –police need to know if there is a problem on your block.
ü Report nuisances and other noncriminal problems promptly; contact the Zoning/Code Office at 610-863-1821.
ü Take away the opportunity for crime-be vigilant about personal property.
ü Make it a point to get to know the youth on your block and greet them by name.
ü Introduce yourself to your neighbors on your block; make a list and share names and phone numbers. Don’t blame society if you have not reach out to your neighbors.
ü Make a list of the landlords or contact the Zoning Code Office if there is an issue with a rental.
ü Turn your porch light on every night.
ü If able, take a walk around the block; take a moment to chat with your neighbors.
ü Drive slowly on neighborhood streets. By driving slowly you discourage speeders down your street; they might get caught behind you!
ü Pick up litter near your home, even if you did not put it there. Encourage others by example.
ü Stay where you are; stable neighborhoods build commitment to the community.
ü Become involved, volunteer, go to Council Meetings; all ways to get to know your small town leaders and your neighbors!
